Christian 50th Anniversary
DuBOIS — Mr. and Mrs. Robert Christian of DuBois celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday.
Shirley A. Gustafson of Brockport and Robert A. Christian were married July 16, 1955, at the Gelnett Memorial Church by the Rev. C. Lynn Shreve.
He retired in 1993 from Triangle Auto Springs after 38 years of service.
He was a Korean War veteran.
On May 19, 2001, he was awarded the Korean War Service Medal on the 50th anniversary of the Korean War, along with a letter of appreciation from the president of the Republic of Korea.
They have three children: Stephen (deceased), Shirley of DuBois and Nathan of Scottdale; and two grandsons.

(Obituary of Shirley Christian: "Shirley A. Christian, 79, DuBois, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Penn Highlands DuBois. Born Aug. 28, 1935, in Crenshaw, she was the daughter of the late William T. and Ida Mae (Kalgren) Gustafson. She married Robert A. Christian on July 16, 1955, in DuBois. He survives. Shirley graduated from Brockway High School in 1953. She was a homemaker. She attended First Baptist Church and was formerly a Sunday school teacher and treasurer at Narrows Creek Church. Her hobbies included reading, particularly her Bible, growing flowers, bird-watching, hunting, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Shirley enjoyed rebating and couponing with her mother. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Shirley Mae Christian of DuBois and Nathan Christian of Monroeville; two grandchildren, Chandler and Jacob Christian; and a brother, Everette (Ester) Gustafson of Brockway. She was also preceded in death by her son, Stephen; and her brother, William Gustafson. Friends and family will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, June 30, at Adamson Funeral Chapel Inc., in DuBois. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Mark Montgomery officiating. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.
