Swanson 50th Anniversary
DuBOIS — Mr. and Mrs. Larry Swanson of DuBois will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
Larry Swanson and Mary Ellen Allshouse were married June 5, 1954, in the Falls Creek United Methodist Church with the Rev. Albert Renwick officiating.
He retired as a vice president from Deposit Bank in DuBois.
She retired as a senior field clerk from Bell of Pennsylvania.
They have four children: Wendy Sayers of Edinboro, Lee Ann Swanson of Pittsburgh, Penny Truesdale of DuBois and Scott Swanson of Roaring Spring.
They also have 10 grandchildren.
A family dinner will be held at a later date.

(Obituary of Larry Swanson: "Lawrence E. Swanson, age 77, of West Garfield Avenue in DuBois, PA died Oct. 20, 2010 at his residence. He was born on Oct. 24, 1932 in DuBois, PA. He was the son of the late Raymond & Janet (Horner) Swanson. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served as an Army Corporal. On June 5, 1954, he married Mary Ellen Allshouse in Falls Creek, PA. She survives. He was the Vice President of Deposit Bank/First Commonwealth Bank. He retired in 1994 after 25 years of service. He was member of Christ Lutheran Church, the Garfield Lodge #559 Free and Accepted Masons, Coudersport Consistory, the DuBois Area Shrine Club, the Jaffa Shrine in Altoona, Shriners International, the Manatee Shrine Club, Tideview Square Club in Ellington, FL, and a Charter Member of DuBois Jaycee's. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Wendy Sayers of Edinboro, PA, Lee Ann Swanson, MD of Venetia, PA, Penny Truesdale and her husband, Tom of DuBois, PA, one son, D. Scott Swanson and his wife, Sandy of Roaring Spring, PA., one brother, Clarence Swanson and his wife, Irene of Erie, PA, one sister, Mary Brady and her husband, George of Falls Creek, PA, and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald Swanson and Russell Swanson. There will be no public visitation. A Masonic Service will be held on Oct. 23 at 10:30 a.m. from the Goble Baronick Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church on Oct. 23 at 12 p.m. with Rev. Katherine Douglass officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the church. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery. (Obituary of Mary Ellen Swanson: "Mary Ellen Swanson, 82, Bethel Park, formerly of West Garfield Avenue, DuBois, died Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at her home. Born Dec. 10, 1932, in Falls Creek, she was the daughter of the late James and Ellen (Carlson) Allshouse. On June 5, 1954, in Falls Creek, she married Lawrence E. Swanson. He preceded her in death in 2010. In 1993, after 22 ½ years of service, she retired from Bell of Pennsylvania as a clerk. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the White Shrine, and the International Order of Rainbow for Girls. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Advisory Board, and enjoyed reading, spending time with her family, playing cards and doing activities with her friends. Mary Ellen is survived by her children: Lee Ann Swanson, MD of Peters Township, Penny Truesdale and her husband, Tom, of DuBois, and D. Scott Swanson and his wife, Sandy, of Fairbanks, Alaska; a sister, Nancy Griffin of Lakewood, Colo.; and 10 grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Wendy Sayers. There will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2015, at the chapel at Morningside Cemetery. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
