Smith 50th Anniversary
GRANGE — An open house was held recently in honor of the golden wedding anniversary of Raymond and Cora Belle Smith of Grange.
The event, held in the fellowship hall of the Grange Church of God, was hosted by the couple’s children.
Approximately 230 family members and friends attended.
Raymond Smith, son of Webster and Mayme Smith, and Cora Belle Treese, daughter of Ford and Annie Treese, were united in marriage June 14, 1954, by the Rev. Fred Robb.
He is a retired farmer and trucker.
She is retired from the Punxsutawney Area School District, having worked for 33 years as a library aide.
She is also active in the Grange Church of God, where she has served as pianist for Sunday school and church for the past 50 years.
Both help out at the Smith Farms Greenhouse and Nursery.
The Smiths have two children, Dennis Smith and Cindy Kennedy, both of Punxsutawney, and a grandson.

(Obituary of Cora Bell Smith: "Cora Belle Smith, 81, of Punxsutawney, died Friday, June 9, 2017, at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh. She was born Nov. 19, 1935, in Grant Township, Indiana County, a daughter of the late Annie I. Mae (Spicher) and Ford W. Treese. She was the last remaining member of her family. On June 14, 1954, she married Raymond E. Smith, who survives. They were married for 63 years. She was a member and the pianist at the Grange Church of God for more than 60 years. She was very involved within her church and church functions. Cora Belle worked as a library aide in the Punxsutawney Area School District for 32 years before retiring in June of 2002. She was a graduate of Marion Center High School Class of 1954. She enjoyed volunteering at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital and spending time with her family and grandsons. In addition to her husband, surviving relatives include two children, Dennis R. Smith and fiancé Cathy Thompson of Brookville and Cindy Kennedy and husband Dean of Stanton; a grandson, Tyler Smith and wife Lindsay of Punxsutawney; two great-grandsons, Isaac and Caleb Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lacey Jo Ashley Smith; a sister, Edna J. Ashbaugh; and three brothers, Blaine, Harry and Murray Treese. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2017, at the Deeley Funeral Home in Punxsutawney. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at the Grange Church of God, with Pastor Ken Alt and Pastor John Pennington officiating.
