Hartnett 50th Anniversary
BROOKVILLE — Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hartnett of 523 Roseville-Sigel Road, Brookville, will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary Sept. 4, 2004. An open house will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Roseville Grange, hosted by the couple’s children.
Michael R. “Mike” Hartnett and D. Joan Goodlin were married Sept. 4, 1954, in the rectory of St. Bernards Church in Indiana, Pa. The Rev. Fabian Orris officiated.Their attendants were Jack and Betty Hartnett.
Parents of the couple are the late Edward and Mary Hartnett and the late Clayton and Gaye Goodlin.
The Hartnetts are members of Immaculate Conception Church in Brookville. Both enjoy spending time with their family.
He worked as a bookkeeper for 23 years for W. P. Stahlman Co.. After its closing he worked as a tipple supervisor for C & K Coal Company, then worked for Zuck Lime & Fertilizer Co., retiring in 1993. He now works part time as secretary for Union Township. He enjoys reading, his morning coffee klatch and watching sports. He is an avid fan of Clarion-Limestone football and baseball.
She worked for R.B. Bowser then Farmer Smith’s Greenhouse for five years. She was a sales representative for 20 years with Avon and Fuller Brush companies and now works part time as a cleaning lady. She enjoys reading, photography and caring for her many house plants, and spends several hours each month doing organizational work.
They have four children, Terry Hartnett of Brookville, Valerie Burkett of Punxsutawney, Michele Lindemuth of Brockway and the late Kimberly Hartnett; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren The Hartnetts have requested no gifts.

(Obituary of Michael Hartnett: "Michael R. (Mike) Hartnett, age 86, passed away on October 2, 2018, at the Jefferson Manor Health Center in Brookville, Pa. Born in Johnstown, Pa., on October 31, 1931, raised in Indiana, Pa., he was the son of the late Edward J. and Mary R. (Ruth) Hartnett. On September 4, 1954, Mike married the love of his life, D. Joan (Goodlin) Hartnett, who survives. They recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary; they spent the majority of their married lives in the Brookville, Pa., area. He was a devout Catholic by faith, and served his church as lector, usher, and music leader. Mike graduated from the Indiana, Pa., Joint High School in 1949 and served as a veteran of the U.S. Army, in which he was active from 1950 – 1954 with the 3rd Army Signal Corps and was stationed in Germany for two years during the Korean War. He was employed with W.P. Stahlman Coal Company, C & K Coal Company, and Zuck Lime and Fertilizer, from which he retired in 1993. He also held the Secretary Treasurer position for Union Township for 26 years. Mike was a past member of the DuBois Area Jaycees, Corsica Volunteer Fire Department, Strattanville American Legion, Brookville Lions Club, and Clarion Limestone Area High School Adult Boosters Club. He enjoyed sports and spent years coaching Teener League Baseball, umpiring baseball for different youth baseball leagues, announcing football games for the Clarion Limestone Area High School, and was one of the team's most emphatic fans. He was a respected member of the community and loved by all that knew him. He is survived by a son, Terry M. (Linda) Hartnett of DuBois, Pa.; and daughters Valerie J. (Scott) of Punxsutawney, Pa., and Michele M. (Brian) Linden of Brockport, Pa.; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepmother, Rita Hartnett Starke; a sister, Mary Ruth (Thull) Erl; brothers, Edward and John; a stepbrother, Charles; and a daughter, Kimberly Ann. Family and friends will be received on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 2 – 8 p.m. at the McKinney – d'Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 6, 2018 also at the funeral home beginning at 10 a.m. and officiated by Father William Laska. Interment will take place at the St. Bernard Cemetery in Indiana, Pa. Memorial contributions may be donated in Mike's name to the Brookville Immaculate Conception Church, Wounded Warriors, Corsica Volunteer Fire Department, or Strattanville American Legion.")
