McDonald 50th Anniversary
FALLS CREEK — Richard and Hazel (Whipple) McDonald of Falls Creek celebrated their 50th anniversary at a family dinner at Gilbert’s Restaurant.
The couple were married Aug. 13, 1954, in DuBois, at the Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Ross Haverfield.
Both retired from Jackson China in Falls Creek.
The couple have one daughter, Mrs. Alton (Gail) Wray, and two grandchildren.

(Obituary of Hazel McDonald: "Hazel Irene Whipple McDonald, 84, of Falls Creek went to be with the love of her life on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, 2014, at the DuBois Nursing Home. She was the wife of 59 years to the late Richard “Dick” Floyd McDonald, whom she married Aug. 13, 1954, at the Presbyterian Church, DuBois, by Rev. Ross M. Haverfield. Dick preceded her in death Monday, Feb. 10, 2014. Born Sept. 22, 1929, in Brady Township, Clearfield County, she was the daughter of the late John Roscoe and Lilly May Gearhart Whipple. Hazel lived most of her life in Falls Creek after moving there from the Luthersburg area. Mrs. McDonald was a member of the Smithtown Community Church, Falls Creek, and was baptized by Pastor Lewis Knepper March 26, 1952. Hazel was retired from Jackson China of Falls Creek after 30 years of service. Hazel enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was always ready and willing to babysit and spoil them and their pets. She was a hard worker and could be seen cooking, cleaning house, mowing grass, shoveling snow and reading her Bible among other chores. Surviving is a son-in-law, Alton Wray, Falls Creek; two grandchildren, Joshua Wray, Monroeville, and Melissa Wray, Falls Creek; a sister, Sara (Rudolph) Bayer, Rockton; two brothers, John Whipple of DuBois and David Griffith; also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Gail Eileen (McDonald) Wray on Sept. 23, 2006; two sisters, Bonnie (Whipple) Kirk and Elsie (Rudolph) Gilnett; five brothers: Teddy Whipple, Albert Rudolph, Grant Rudolph, William Rudolph and Paul Rudolph. A service to celebrate the life of Hazel I. McDonald will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at the Mohney Yargar Funeral Chapel Inc., 142 W. Long Ave., DuBois, PA 15801 with Pastor Harold Hills officiating. A time to share memories and have an opportunity to view will be Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10-11 a.m., the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Beechwoods Cemetery, Falls Creek. For those desiring, memorial donations may be made in memory of Hazel to the charity of the donor’s choice.")
(Obituary of Richard McDonald: "Richard (Dick) Floyd McDonald, 85 of Falls Creek, passed away Monday, February 10, 2014 at the DuBois Nursing Home. He was the husband of 59 years to Hazel I. (Whipple) McDonald of DuBois whom he married August 13, 1954 at the Presbyterian Church, DuBois, PA by Rev. Ross M. Haverfield. Born November 29, 1929 in Falls Creek, PA, he was the son of the late Roderick Floyd and Mable (Snyder) McDonald. Mr. McDonald was a member of the Smithtown Community Church, Falls Creek and was baptized by Pastor Harold Hills and august 25, 1990. Richard was retired from Jackson China of Falls Creek with 35 years of service. Richard was a lifetime member of the NRA. He was a member of the DuBois Rifle Club serving several offices including President, Treasurer and Range Officer and also the Hormtown Rifle and Pistol Club. Richard also donated to many charities. Mr. McDonald thoroughly enjoyed hunting all his life. Especially pheasant and grouse with the bird dogs he had owned through the years. He also enjoyed hunting deer. Richard competitively shot handguns for many years and earned many trophies at the sport. He also enjoyed woodworking, gardening and target shooting. Surviving in addition to his wife is a son-in-law: Alton Wray, Falls Creek; two grandchildren: Joshua Wray, Monroeville, Pa; Melissa Wray, Falls Creek; also survived by a sister: Betty (Dallas) Senior, Falls Creek and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter: Gail Eileen (McDonald) Wray on September 23, 2006; a brother: Roderick McDonald. A service to celebrate the life of Richard F.
