Slattery 50th Anniversary
RIDGWAY — Mr. and Mrs. James E. Slattery of Ridgway celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 5, 2004.
He is a retired grocery store manager.
She is a homemaker.
They have two children, Joe Slattery and Gail Morrison, both of Ridgway; seven grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
They celebrated the occasion with a family dinner.

(Obituary of James Slattery: "James E. Slattery, 86, a resident of Ridgmont Assisted Living, died on Sunday, October 21, 2018 following a brief illness. He was born on December 18, 1931 in DuBois, a son of the late James and Helen Murdock Slattery. He was a graduate of DuBois High School, class of 1949. On August 5, 1954, in the Post Catholic Chapel in Ft. Meade, MD, he married Betty Robinson Slattery, who preceded him in death on January 1, 2007. Jim served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War with the 7th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Korean Service Medal, and a Purple Heart. He worked in food service for more than 41 years, with more than 31 years spent working at the A&P and several years after retirement at Market Basket. He was a member of the VFW Post 813, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Kane. He was a member of St. Leo's Church and enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by a daughter, Gail Morrison and her husband Jack of Ridgway, a son, Joseph Slattery of Ridgway, seven grandchildren, Tom (Joanna) Slattery, Jolene (Ben) Mentzer, Bryan (Nikki) Slattery, Paul Slattery, Jeffrey (Jasmine) Slattery, Matthew (Ashleigh) Morrison, and Kelly (Chris) Marshall and by nine great-grandchildren, Shelby, Marley, Oliver, Reagan, Neil, Adeline, Delaney, Lilah, and Benjamin. He is also survived by one sister, Helen Shaffer of DuBois, his longtime companion, Judy Cicirello of Wellsville, NY, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, John and Thomas Slattery, by one brother, William Slattery, by one sister, Betty Frease, and by a daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Slattery. A Mass of Christian Burial for James E. Slattery will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at St. Leo's Catholic Church, 111 Depot Street, Ridgway, PA 15853 with Fr. Justin Pino officiating. Burial will follow in St. Catherine Cemetery in DuBois. Military Honors will be accorded by the Ridgway Honor Guard. Visitation will be at the Thompson Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 PM. Memorial Contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
