Hurley - Schuetz
Amy Michelle Schuetz and Geoff Utecht Hurley were united in marriage in the presence of God and
immediate family on April 28, 2003 at Westminster, Colo.
She is the daughter of Dr. Perry and Nancy Schuetz of Great Bend, KS.
He is the son of Stephen and Kathy Hurley of St. Paul, Minn., and Douglas and Ruth Lundborg of Pine Haven, Wyo., and Pristina, Kosovo.
The bride wore an elegant white crepe and sheath summer gown featuring a chiffon drape at the halter neckline.
In back, the gown featured a two-tiered chiffon drape that extended to the full length of the gown.
In her hair, the bride wore an elbow - length bridal illusion veil edged in pearls and crystals.
She carried a bouquet of peach roses.
Maid of honor was Christina Butler of Parker, Colo.
She wore a sleeveless sheath gown of black chiffon with a matching black chiffon shawl wrap, and carried a single peach rose.
Best man was Michael Jespersen of Portland, Ore.
The bride is a 1994 graduate of Great Bend High School.
In 1999 she graduated Summa Cum Laude with an overall 4.0 GPA from the University of Kansas and was awarded a bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language-Hearing.
In 2001 she earned her master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Kansas, Lawrence campus, and College of Allied Health at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
She is employed by BBS Health care; a Philadelphia based therapy-contracting company, and is completing contract work within the inner-city schools of Commerce City, Colo.
She is employed as a full-time speech-language pathologist, and enjoys working with and serving a wide range of diverse children with disabilities from grades first through eighth.
The groom is a 1997 graduate from Moorcroft High School in Moorcroft, Wyo.
Following graduation, he joined the United States Navy and attended basic training in Great Lakes, Ill., where he graduated as an Academic Honors Recruit.
After basic training, he transferred to the USS Seattle (AOE-3) and deployed to Baharain located in the Persian Gulf.
He then attended Surface Rescue Swimmer School where he graduated as the Honor Man at the top of his class, and set the Eastern Seaboard record for swimming the fastest 800-meter (0.5 miles), with fins, for any U.S. Navy man.
In the spring of 1999, he was promoted to Petty Officer Third Class in the Electronic Warfare Community.
Between 1999-2000 he completed a second overseas deployment to the Persian Gulf.
In the spring of 2000, he was promoted to Petty Officer Second Class.
He received the Navy Achievement Medal in April 2001 for logging over 850 hours of restorative maintenance to The Seattle.
In the summer of 2001, he moved to Colorado and was assigned as a recruiter within the Naval Reserve located at Buckley Air-Force Base in Aurora, Colo.
He is employed by the U.S. Navy as a recruiter for the US Naval Reserve.
The couple currently resides in Westminster.
They tentatively plan on moving to San Diego, Calif., in the summer of 2004, where he will begin Basic Underwater Demolitions/SEAL training.
