marriage on March 8, 2003 at The Church of the Blessed Sacrament of New York.
The Rev. Robert B. O’Connor officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Charles and Mary Ann Backman of Great Bend and the late John M. Russell II.
The groom is the son of Carole Frisch of Pinehurst, N.C., and the late August W. Frisch III.
The bride, escorted by her brother, Jay Russell, wore a sleeveless a-line gown of Italian satin, featuring an illusion filled jewel neckline and deep back.
Her tiered fingertip veil was held by a band of satin rosebuds and pearls.
She carried a bouquet of miniature white calla lilies.
Matron of honor was Ginny Harris of Leawood, sister of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Jamie Dake of Los Angeles, Calif., Suzie Legg of Mission, Michele Leimgruber of New York and Michelle Sini of Darian, Conn., sister of the groom.
They wore two-piece black satin sheath gowns and carried bouquets of miniature white calla lilies.
Flower girls were Abby Russell, niece of the bride, and Megan Frisch, niece of the groom.
Ring bearer was Alex Harris, nephew of the bride.
Taper lighters were Dani Russell and Emily Russell, nieces of the bride.
Vocalist was Megan Harris, niece of the bride.
Wedding day assistants were Michael Frisch, nephew of the groom, and Kirk Harris, nephew of the
bride.
A reception dinner and dance was held at the Manhattan Penthouse.
The bride is a graduate of Great Bend High School, DePaul University of Chicago, Ill., with a bachelor of science in finance, and the University of Chicago, with an MBA, concentration in finance.
She is employed by Credit Suisse First Boston as an associate in the media and telecommunications group.
The groom is a graduate of Gilmour Academy of Gates Mills, Ohio, Duke University, with a BA in economics and public policy and the University of Chicago, with an MBA, concentration in finance.
He is employed by Lehman Bros. as an associate in the mergers and acquisitions group.
After a wedding trip to Tahiti and Bora Bora, the couple is at home in New York.
