Rankin Anniversary

Daylon and Janet Rankin will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary with an open house from 6-9 p.m. Aug. 10, 2002 at their home in Great Bend.

Rankin and the former Janet Behrens were married Aug. 6, 1947, at Peace Lutheran Church in rural Albert.

They lived in the Ash Valley and Larned community for 53 years.

They retired from farming and feeding cattle two years ago.

Hosts for the open house will be their children and families.

They are Randy and Mary Rankin of Castle Rock, Colo., and Pam Becker of Topeka.

Their grandchildren are Laura Rankin, Colby Rankin and Ashton Becker.

The couple request no gifts.

(Obituary of Daylon Rankin: "ALBERT — Daylon Rankin, 81, died Feb. 7 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. He was born Jan. 4, 1923, at Albert, the son of August and Mary Schmidt Rankin. He married Janet Behrens Aug. 6, 1947, at Peace Lutheran Church in Albert. A lifetime area resident, he was a farmer and a stockman. Rankin was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Albert. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Randy Rankin and wife, Mary, of Castle Rock, Colo.; one daughter, Pam Becker of Topeka; one stepbrother, Rodney Quincy of Wichita; and three grandchildren, Laura Rankin, Colby Rankin and Ashton Becker. He was preceded in death by five stepbrothers. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the church, with the Rev. Jack D. Russell officiating. Burial will be at Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery in Albert. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. today at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Memorials are suggested to Daylon Rankin Memorial Scholarship, in care of Peace Lutheran Church.")
