Redetzke Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Redetzke will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at 5 p.m. Nov. 3, 2001 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hoisington with a Mass of Thanksgiving and later with a family dinner.
An open house will be held at St. John School Cafeteria in Hoisington from 2-4 p.m. Nov. 3.
Redetzke and the former Martha Hawes of Dodge City, were united in marriage Nov. 3, 1951, in Fort Chaffee, Ark.
He served as a field radio repairman/Morse code operator with the 1st Cavalry Division in Korea before returning to the Susank area in 1953 where he farmed for 30 years.
He also worked for Superior Essex before retiring in 1996.
She is a homemaker and worked for Suburban Laundry for 10 years and at Superior Essex for 23 years.
Hosting the event are their children, Catherine Kruhm of Littleton, Colo., Terry Redetzke and Linda Rubio, both of Hoisington, Gregory Redetzke of Russell and Carol Redetzke of Claflin.
The celebratory couple have 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

(Obituary of Clarence Redetzke: "HOISINGTON — Clarence A. Redetzke, 80, died Jan. 3 at Hays Medical Center in Hays. He was born April 24, 1930, at Hoisington, the son of Leo C. and Cecelia C. (Schauf) Redetzke. He married Martha A. Hawes Nov. 3, 1951, at Fort Smith, Ark. She died Oct. 22, 2010. A lifetime Susank/Hoisington resident, he was a retired farmer/rancher. He served during the Korean Conflict as a Corporal in the U.S. Army. Mr. Redetzke was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 3rd degree Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7428 and American Legion Post No. 286, all of Hoisington. Survivors include two sons, Terence Redetzke and his wife Pam, and Gregory Redetzke, all of Hoisington; three daughters, Catherine Kruhm and her husband Burt of Littleton, Colo., Linda Rubio and her husband Martin of Hoisington, and Carol Redetzke of Hoisington; a brother, Norman Redetzke of Hoisington; four sisters, Marilyn Redetzke of Hoisington, Jeanne Reilly of Pittsburg, Calif., Eileen Larkin of Spring, Texas, and Bernie McCay of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Maurice and Leo (Butch) Redetzke; sister, Cecelia Monaghan; and grandson, Zachary Rubio. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hoisington, with Father Dwight Birket officiating. Interment will be at St. Catherine Cemetery, Dubuque, Kan., with military graveside rites by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
