Keil Anniversary
Melvin and Jane Keil will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday. A reception will be held from 2-4 p.m. at the American Legion, 1011 Kansas, in Great Bend.
Hosting the event will be their children and grandchildren.
Their children are Allen R. and Dr. Rebecca S. Keil of Tucson, Ariz., John E. Keil of Blue Springs, Mo., Mary E. Klepper of Great Bend and Judy K. and Dean Cooley of Wichita.
Grandchildren are Stacie and Brian McMullen of Great Bend, Mark and Misty Straub and Nicole D. Cooley, all of Emporia, Sheila M. Schartz of Hutchinson, Vanessa K. Cooley of Wichita, Turi C. Keil of Tucson, and Lacie, Bret and Brice Keil of Broken Arrow, Okla.
Great-granddaughter is Heather M. Tedrow of Great Bend.
Keil and the former Jane Parish were married May 5, 1951, in Great Bend at First Christian Church by the Rev. Francis Bruce.
She worked for Southwestern Bell in Great Bend and Hutchinson for 22 years.
Melvin worked in construction and had his own business pulling mobile homes across the country.
They have lived in Great Bend most of their married lives.
Relatives and friends of the couple are invited to celebrate with them.

He served during World War II as a Gunner’s Mate 3rd Class in the U.S. Navy.
Melvin was a member of the American Legion Argonne Post #180, V.F.W. Post #3111, a charter member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, and a life member of the D.A.V., in which he served as Past Commander.
