The evening wedding took place Aug. 5, 2000, in the Conservatory at the State Botanical Gardens in Athens. The double-ring ceremony was performed by the bride's cousin, Neil Warner Awbrey of Chapel Hill, N.C.
The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Tomkins of Franklin, and Mrs. Louise Prince and the late Rev. Hulett Prince of Roanoke, Ala. Given in marriage by her brother, Scott Prince, the bride wore a white satin A-line Tiamo gown designed by Bianchi, with embroidery in front and back. Her cathedral-length veil was scattered with rhinestones and she wore a tiara of diamonds, rhinestones and pearls. She carried a pure white bouquet of roses, hydrangea, day lilies, sweetheart roses, and greenery.
Attending the bride were Brooke Leebern and Natalie Page of Athens, Meghan Burns and Brandi Nelson of Peachtree City, Kathy Skipper and Leslie McCoy of San Diego, Calif., Hope Winters of Newnan, and Vanessa Prince, cousin of the bride, of Carrollton. The attendants all wore dresses of charcoal blue chiffon. The flower girl was Victoria Parker, niece of the groom.
The best man was Tony Parker of Conyers, father of the groom. Groomsmen were Andy Parker of McDonough, brother of the groom; and Nathan Logan, Henry Frye, Troy Passmore, Bobby Mize and Larry Cross, all of Conyers. The groomsmen all wore black tuxedos with black vests.
A reception was held in the conservatory following the ceremony. The wedding cake was a four-tiered white cake with white icing. The groom's cake was a replica of the 12th hole of the Augusta National Golf Course, complete with bunkers and water hazard.
Events leading up to the wedding included a bridesmaids' luncheon at Harry Bissets Restaurant on Thursday afternoon, and a wedding rehearsal party Friday evening at the Athens Country Club Pavilion in Athens.
The couple honeymooned in Las Vegas and presently reside in Athens.
