Kirby anniversary
Dwight and Louise Kirby of Fayetteville celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000 with a reception held at the LaFayette Nursing Home in Fayetteville.
The Kirbys eloped and were married Oct. 19, 1932 in Roswell.
Both are longtime members of the Fayetteville First Baptist Church and have lived in Fayette County since 1941.
Mr. Kirby was active in the Fayette County Farm Bureau and Mrs. Kirby was an employee at the Fayette County Tax Commissioner's office for many years.
The Kirbys have three children: daughters, Donna Kirby, a Southern Baptist missionary in Hong Kong, and Jerry Bramblett who lives in Fayetteville; and a son, Freeman, who lives in Texas.
They also have seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

(Obituary of Louise Kirby: "Louise Donaldson Kirby, 92 died on December 21, 2004. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 plus years, Dwight Freeman Kirby, a son, Tolleson Kirby and granddaughter, Gwen Bramblett. She would have been 93 on December 26th. Mrs. Kirby was born in Chamblee, GA., the daughter of William and Nellie Collett Donaldson. She graduated from Chamblee High School and played for a semi professional basketball team. She was known on the team as (Lil' Bit). Though short in stature she was tall in ability and character. Louise has lived in Fayette County since 1941 working with her husband on the farm, driving the tractor, growing vegetables, milking cows and raising a family of 4 children. After raising her family, she worked at Alford's Store in Fayetteville and as a Tax Clerk in Fayette County until her retirement. A long time member of Fayetteville First Baptist Church, Louise worked along side her husband, Dwight in Training Union and with young people, she was also a member of the Wise Sunday School Class. As a charter member, she was involved in the birth of Peachtree City First Baptist Church. Louise was an excellent seamstress, loved flowers, gardening and cherished her family. Survivors include a son, Freeman and Dottie Kirby of Texas; daughters, Jerry and Marc Bramblett and Donna Kirby, both of Fayetteville. Mrs. kirby is survived by 7 grandchildren, Marcia and Mike Edge, Amy and Steve Waldron, Marc Jr. and Kelly Bramblett, Matt and Sandi Bramblett, Leila and Mark Wathen, Freeman (Rod) Kirby Jr., Dr. Wendy and Mark Speets. She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren. Mrs. Kirby is survived by a brother, Fred and Irene Donaldson of Douglasville; and a sister, Avie Donaldson Smith of Hiawassee; nieces, nephews and friends. A celebration of life for Mrs. Kirby will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Fayetteville First Baptist Church-Overton Chapel with Rev.
