SATOMAA - 50TH
Walter and Wanda Satomaa of Van Etten, New York celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 16, 2004 with a family dinner party.
Mr. Walter Satomaa and the former Wanda Strong Simcoe, were married at the Methodist Church in Sayre, Pennsylvania on July 16, 1954.
The couple has three children.
They are Darwin (Joni) Simcoe of Clermont, Florida; Darryl (Wendy) Simcoe of Hamilton, New York; and Wanetta Welty of Spencer, New York.
They also have seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Satomaa retired from Satomaa Appliances and the U.S. Postal Service and Mrs. Satomaa worked for W. D. Seeley Real Estate branch office and retired from Satomaa Appliances.

Satomaa, 88, Van Etten, former proprietor of Satomaa Appliance and retired rural letter carrier, passed at home with family present on Wednesday, May 4, 2005.Born June 14, 1916, in Mesaba, MN, the son of Andrew and Fanny (Sikkila) Satomaa. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Wanda Strong Simcoe; sister, Violet Carlson, Clinton, MD; two sons and their spouses, Darwin and Joni Simcoe, Clermont, FL, Darryl and Wendy Simcoe, Hamilton, NY; daughter, Wanetta Satomaa and partner, Colleen Archer, Spencer; seven grandchildren, Amy Brillinger, Jeff Simcoe, Aubrey Simcoe, Eliot Simcoe, Thomas Simcoe, Kelly Welty, Craig Welty; great-granddaughter, Autumn Brillinger; nieces, Jean Richter and Carol Wooldridge; and cousins.Walter was a member of Spencer Masonic Lodge #290 for 58 years, and a volunteer firefighter with the Van Etten V.F.D.Friends may call on Saturday, May 7, 2005, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Allen-Manzer Funeral Home in Spencer. (Obituary of Wanda Satomaa: " Wanda (Simcoe) Satomaa 1927 - 2017 - VAN ETTEN - Wanda Strong (Simcoe) Satomaa passed away, peacefully, on April 19, 2017, at Rome Memorial Residential Health Care Facility. She will be remembered as an active member of the Van Etten and Spencer communities that meant so much to her throughout her life. She married Walter Satomaa, on July 16, 1954, and together they founded Satomaa Appliances. She was also well known as a member of the Van Etten Methodist Church and Eastern Star. She served as the Village of Van Etten Clerk, 4H leader, realtor and participated in many other social and charitable activities. Wanda was a part of a large and loving family, including predeceased husband of fifty years, Walter Satomaa; sons, Darwin (Joni) Simcoe, and Darryl Simcoe (Patty Aldaco); daughter, Wanetta (Welty) Satomaa, (Colleen Archer); grandchildren, Amy Simcoe Brillinger, Jeff Simcoe, Kelly Welty Buttery, Craig Welty, Eliot Simcoe, Thomas Simcoe, and Aubrey Simcoe Harbert and a growing number of great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sisters, Dorothy Saltus, M. Ruth Strong and Jean Lombard (Clark) Hofbauer; many nieces and nephews; and special friends. Her legacy of charity, kindness and dependability stand as a shining example of characteristics to strive to achieve. No formal services will be conducted, but a casual Day of Remembrance will be held Sunday, May 28, 2017, from 1- 4 p.m, at the home of Wanetta Satomaa, 10 Meadow St., Spencer, NY, 14883.
