Parents of the bride are Michael and Glenda Hedrick.
Heather graduated from St. Mary's High School in Independence and has a degree in communications from Truman State in Kirksville, Missouri.
She is pursuing her teacher's certification.
Parents of the groom are Gerard and Lynn Ahrens of Westwood.
John graduated from St. Xavier High School and holds a degree in broadcast journalism from Kent State.
He attained his meteorology seal in June of 2004.
The couple met in Kirksville when Heather was a college student and John worked for KTVO television.
They will reside in Charleston, South Carolina where John is a reporter and meteorologist for WCBD-TV.
