Mr. and Mrs. Ralph E. Aust Sr. celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at their Fort Thomas home with family members.
They were married on November 2, 1943 in Las Vegas, Nevada where he was stationed as an aviation cadet in the Army Air Force.
The couple has one daughter and two sons, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

(Obituary for Betty Aust: "Betty Smith Aust - FORT THOMAS - Betty Smith Aust, 80, wife of Ralph E. Aust Sr., died Thurs. Feb. 19, 2004 at her home. She was born on July 13, 1923 in Bluefield, West Virginia, to Thomas Roscoe Smith and Della Salmon Smith. She graduated from Beaver High School and attended McLains College in Bluefield. She was a Charter member of Highland Hills Baptist Church where, until suffering a stroke she was an active member in many church activities, especially WMU and had established "Mission Friends". Known as "Honey", she will be remembered by many for the wonderful pies and cakes she made for the ill and shut-ins. When she was unable to leave her home she continued to cook for others and her husband of sixty years, delivered her delicious cooking for her. Together they created a place where friends and family felt welcomed and cherished. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. In addition to her beloved husband she is survived by a devoted daughter, Rebecca (Steven) Aust Phipps of Georgetown, KY, two loving sons, Ralph (Mary) Aust Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio and Dr. Stephen (Kate) Aust of Charlottesville, Va; five dear grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Services 10 am Mon. Feb. 23, 2004, at the Highland Hills Baptist Church at 638 Highland Ave., Fort Thomas, KY. Visitation Sun. from 5-8 pm, at the A.C. (Obituary of Ralph Aust: "Ralph Emmanuel Aust, Sr, 93, of Ft. Thomas, KY, passed away on Wednesday June 29, 2016 at his home. Ralph was born on July 13, 1922 in Crystal, West Virginia to Orvel Preston Aust and Clara Altha Scott Aust. He graduated valedictorian from Bramwell High School and attended Cadet School at Birmingham Southern College. Ralph was a First Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps stationed in North Africa and Italy. He managed the J.C. Penney store in the Newport Shopping Center from 1956 until his retirement in 1986. He was a charter member of Highland Hills Baptist where he taught Sunday School and served as a deacon, church moderator, and treasurer. Known as "trouble" he and his wife created a place where friends and family felt welcomed and cherished. Ralph served as President of the Campbell Co. Kiwanis Club, and on the Holly Hill Orphanage Board of Trustees. Ralph was a Trustee for Campbellsville University, served as a Trustee for the Baptist Life Communities Board, was an arbitrator and mediator for the Better Business Bureau, and a volunteer for the Hospice of Bluegrass. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Rebecca (Steven) Aust Phipps of Georgetown, Ky.; and two loving sons, Ralph (Mary) Aust Jr. of Cincinnati; Dr. Stephen (Kate) Aust of Charlottesville, Va., grandchildren Steven Scott (Karen) Aust, Elijah (Laura) Aust, Christi Phipps (Mike) Weise, Shawn (Nicole) Hopper, and Michelle (Devin) Huntley. Ralph is also survived by his 10 great-grandchildren, his sisters Pat Zamberlin & Sylvia Davis and a daughter in law Janice Aust.
