HARRIS Anniversary
Robert B. and Rheda F. Harris celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on January 4, 2003.
Their life together began on a remote island in Lake Michigan, where Bob, still fulfilling his military duties in the Coast Guard, had been transferred to tend the lighthouse.
The spartan conditions on the island proved to be an excellent proving ground for both Rheda and Bob's pioneer talents and was a source of many amusing stories.
On their return to the mainland they settled in Cincinnati, where they still reside.
After leaving the Coast Guard Bob joined his father, Samuel L. Harris, in his real estate firm, at that time being the youngest person to pass the Ohio State Real Estate License Exam.
He then co-founded H-M Company, a distributor of coin-operated and commercial laundry and dry cleaning equipment.
After more than 30 successful years, he retired to pursue a variety of other business activities and hobbies.
Bob is an avid boatsman.
He and Rheda still enjoy cruising the Ohio River and entertaining in their houseboat.
He is also active in the Shrine and various political organizations.
Rheda is an accomplished artisan skilled in weaving, beading, knitting, sewing and culinary arts.
Her outgoing personality, creativity and extraordinary sense of style attract people of all ages.
She has a special knack with the younger generation with whom she shares her cooking ideas and craft skills.
She has volunteered at the Jewish Hospital and various other organizations.
They are generous contributors to many organizations and recently they donated an ambulance to the Israeli Red Cross.
They are the parents of three daughters: Trina Hershkovitz of Ness Ziona, Israel, Joni Harris of Palo Alto, California and Lynn Harris of Westlake Village, California and the grandparents of Yaron and Amir Hershkovitz of Ness Ziona, Israel.
Bob is the son of the late Samuel L. and Sarah Harris.
Rheda is the daughter of Amy Padwa and the late Samuel S. Roberts.
We wish them a world of continued good health and happiness together.
With much love, their daughters, grandsons and dear friends.
