Tanya Kyria Baroutsis of Slippery Rock and Marlon Jermain Artis of Frederick, Md., exchanged wedding vows at 2 p.m. Aug. 5, 2001 at Strathmore Hall, North Bethesda, Md.
The Rev. Christopher Madison officiated.
A reception followed in Strathmore Hall.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Baroutsis of Slippery Rock.
Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Artis of Hampton, Va.
The matron of honor was the bride’s sister, Karena McCandless of Burton, Ohio.
Bridesmaids were the bride’s sisters, Shauna Archer of West Jordan, Utah, and Lynette Slovensky of Atlanta; and Elissa Juskalian of Winchester, Va.
The flower girl was Samantha Archer of West Jordan.
Performing the duties of best man was Kwame Brown of Hampton. Ushers were the bridegroom’s brothers, Benjamin Artis of Sacramento, Calif., and Lee Artis of Hampton; Kevin Jones of Scotia, N.Y.; and Fletcher Ford of Hampton.
The ring bearer was Marlena Artis of Hampton.
The bride is a 1994 graduate of Slippery High School.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sport science in 1998 from Pennsylvania State University and earned a master’s degree in occupational therapy in 2000 from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Va.
She works for Montgomery Village Care and Rehabilitation, Gaithersburg, Md.
The bridegroom is a 1991 graduate of Hampton High School, Hampton.
He earned a bachelor of engineering degree in 1996 from Old Dominion University.
He works as a mechanical design engineer for Gesac in Boonsboro, Md.
The couple honeymooned in Rome, Italy, and lives in Frederick.
