Henrys celebrate 60th wedding anniversary
LOIS AND DICK HENRY OF GLEN ARBOR WERE MARRIED ON AUG. 31, 1947.
Lois and Dick Henry of Glen Arbor celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at the Glen Lake Manor on Sunday, Aug. 26.
Richard Henry and the former Lois Weinberg were married in Vicksburg, Mich., on Aug. 31, 1947.
Lois obtained her teaching degree at what is now called Western Michigan University. Dick served in World War II in the Pacific Theater, obtained a degree in business management at the Albright College of Business, and worked for the Post Cereal Company until 1965, when they moved to Traverse City.
They owned and operated the Briar Hill Motel before moving to the Glen Lake area, where Lois taught third grade at Glen Lake Community School.
They owned and operated the Glen Eden Resort on Glen Lake for 18 years before retiring.
The couple continues to live in Glen Arbor and spend part of the winter in Gulf Shores, Ala.
The anniversary celebration was attended by their children and families, including Judi and Robert Miller of Cedar, Jan and Gordon Wiseman of Traverse City, Jean and Greg Noah of Honor, and John and Colleen (Bacheim) Henry of Belmont.
They also have 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
