Kingslands mark 50th anniversary
Milton and Jennie Lee Kingsland of Canby celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Feb. 6, 2004.
The couple celebrated their golden anniversary with family and friends at a private Valentine’s Day dinner in the Columbia Aviation Association building at the Aurora State Airport, which included a musical performance by Joni Harms and Friends.
Jennie Lee Gillman and Milton D. Kingsland were high school sweethearts, and they married in Kansas City, Kansas, on Feb. 6, 1954.
Two days later, they flew to Portland, where they moved into a new home and where Milt was employed in a cabinet-making work/education program.
His cabinet-making in wood products led to sales and product liaison efforts in metal cabinets and louver products with architects, builders and owners on construction sites at Mt. Hood Community College, the Veterans Hospital in Portland, and sites across Oregon and Washington.
Jennie Lee’s art interests led to her owning and operating a name-badge and building identification business that she sold after 25 years of activity.
The couple enjoy travel by auto and private airplane, and they participate in various local events, including bowling leagues and card and pool games. Both are active in the general aviation community, and he spends hours refurbishing small aircraft.
The Kingslands have a son, Bruce of northwest Washington, two daughters, Sherrie Lynn Terry of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Julie Hernandez of Canby, and four grandchildren.
