Kristi DeJong and David Kading announce their engagement and plans for an Aug. 8, 2003 wedding.

The future bride is a daughter of Gale and Marj DeJong of Lynden.

Lynn and Sandye Kading of Rapid City, S.D., are the parents of the prospective bridegroom.

The couple is currently completing doctorate degrees at Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Ore.

They plan to practice optometry together.
