Julie Ann Ermis and Dr. Russell Deane Briggs were united in marriage at 7 p.m. on Oct. 13, 2001, at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Austin, Texas.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Bedrick Ermis of Austin.
She is the granddaughter of Mrs. James Gordon Puryear of Austin and the late Mr. Puryerar and the late Mr. and Mrs. Martin John Ermis of Austin.
The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Deane Richmond Briggs of Winter Haven.
He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Colver Richmond Briggs of Southbury, Conn., and the late Mr. and Mrs. John R. Green of Lorenzo, Texas.
Dr. James Singleton officiated at the double-ring ceremony.
Providing nuptial music for the wedding were John Schmidt, organist; Tim Shaffer, trumpeter and the string quartet, La Rejouissance.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown designed by Reem Acra of ivory duchess silk satin with tulle overlay.
The strapless bodice was embroidered with Swarovski crystal and pearl accents.
The full skirt extended to a chapel length train.
He headpiece was a sterling silver tiara of Swarovski crystals designed by Reem Acra.
The tiara held two layers of ivory tulle, one layer was chapel length and the other elbow length.
The bride carried two handkerchiefs; one from her maternal grandmother and one from the groom's maternal great grandmother which had been carried by a number of brides in the family.
She carried a classic nosegay of white and ivory roses, mini callas, ranunculus, stephanotis, freesia and sweet peas.
Serving as maid of honor was Kelli Jane Ermis, sister of the bride.
Serving as bridesmaids were Ann Greenwood Burns, law school friend; Laura Sullivan Garner, high school friend; Brenda Kay Lenahan, college and law school friend; Ashley Campbell Rosilier, high school and college friend; Samantha Renee Silver, childhood friend and Kathryn Briggs Vargo, sister of the groom. The attendants wore dresses designed by Lazaro.
Floor length pale sage green silk gowns with sweep trains.
The neckline was accented with crystal beads. Their flowers were a hand tied collection of delicate white and ivory roses, ranunculus and freesia with sage green accents.
The bride's mother wore a floor-length ivory silk gown overlaid with lace. Her corsage was a collection of mini roses, freesia, and hydrangea in white and ivory.
The groom's mother wore a floor-length celadon green gown with a brocade top of celadon green, blue and gold accented with seed pearls.
She wore a matching brocade jacket.
She carried a tussey mussy collection of mini roses, freesia, and hydrangea in white and ivory.
Serving as best man was Dr. Deane Richmond Briggs, father of the groom. Serving as groomsmen were Scott Richmond Briggs, brother of the groom, Dr. William Whitaker Webb III, John Paul Allen, Brannon Jeffrey Buck, Christopher Ward Parker-Davidson, college friends; Dr. David John Cowin, University of Florida Medical School friend; Dr. Michael David Trotter, Dr. John Lanier Burns, Dr. Chad Paul Dieterichs, friends from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas and John Lewis Vargo Jr., brother-in-law of the groom.
The family received guests at Austin Country Club in Austin Texas with music by the Reunion Band. Assisting in hospitalities were Kristen Lee Ermis, sister of the bride and Ruth Elizabeth Anderson, Jennifer Johnson Anderson and Tebbie Mignon Barnhill.
A rehearsal dinner on the eve of the wedding was hosted by the groom's parents at the Four Seasons Hotel in Austin.
After a wedding trip to Hawaii the couple will live in Galveston, Texas.
The bride is employed as an Associate in Corporate Finance and Securities Law at Vinson & Elkins, L.L.P., in Houston. The groom is Chief Resident in Otolaryngology at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.
