Davis - Kilcrease

Lauren Leigh Davis and Adam Christopher Kilcrease, both of Troy, were united in marriage at five in the afternoon on Feb. 22, 2003, at Park Memorial United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Turpin Ashurst officiated the ceremony.

The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wayne Davis.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Michael Kilcrease.

The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pugh D. Davis and the late Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Ray Brock.

The groom's grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Kendrick Davis and Mr. Dewey Kilcrease and the late Mrs. Kilcrease.

Maid of honor was Heather Rhea Adams.

Bridesmaids were Allison Michelle Bassett, Dusty Helms Bedsole, Holley Phillips Davis, Bethany Fannin, Ashley Wambles Kilcrease, Callie Merrill, Candace Rebecca Norsworthy, Shea Fant Smith and Amy Carol Spurlock.

Flower girls were Patsy Ann Davis and Laura Lynn Davis, nieces of the bride.

The groom was served by his father, Terry Michael Kilcrease, as best man.

Groomsmen included Christopher Mark Bazzell, Randy Neal Davis, Wayne Brock Davis, Steven Michael Kilcrease, Richard Damon Reed, Brandon Michael Roundtree, Kenneth Leon Sanders, Bryant Lee Smith and Anthony Reed Turner.

Blakely Ryan Adams and Paul Dee Davis served as ushers.

The ringbearer was Ray Brock Davis, nephew of the bride.The bride, escorted by her father, wore a gown fashioned of white slipper satin with fitted empire bodice adorned with platinum bugle beads and seed pearls.

The slim skirt extended into a chapel train also edged with beaded trim.

Her tiered full length veil of silk illusion edged in satin ribbon fell from a band of pearls and crystals.

The bride carried a cluster bouquet of crimson Charlotte roses, interspersed with tiny stems of belles of Ireland.

As her "something old and something blue," she wore the same penny in her shoe and the same garter that her mother wore at her wedding 30 years earlier.

She also carried a lace handkerchief of her paternal grandmother, Barto McMoy.

Bridal attendants wore two piece formal gowns of crimson matte satin enhanced with beading at the waist.

Each carried ribbon wrapped stems of white akita roses.

The wedding was coordinated and directed by Frances Davis with Betty Hixon serving as special assistant to the groom and Betty Wagoner assisting the bride.

Nuptial music was provided by Jason Grace, pianist, coordinator and vocalist, Irene Walker, organist, and Marilyn Zimmer, violinist.

Program attendants were Carolyn Marie Cielisoki and Jillian Shea Snyder.

Rachel Rodgers Bazzell attended the guest book.

Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception at the Pike Cattlemen's Association Building.

As guests arrived they were greeted by the splendor of a Southern early spring garden.

Lavish arrangements of blooming branches of cherry, plum and Japanese magnolias as well as daffodils and tulips filled the reception room with the sweet smell of early spring.

A gazebo covered in fragrant kiss-me-at-the-gate and white plum branches held the bride's cake, which was adorned with seasonal sugar paste flowers.

The groom's cake of triple chocolate was featured on the desert table.

Guests enjoyed a delicious buffet featuring beef, ham, chicken and a varied bountiful selection of side dishes.

The wedding party and guests danced the night away to music by the Fabulous Shades featuring music from the fifties and sixties.

After traditional family dances, the bride and groom left to the glitter of sparklers in an antique 1939 Ford.

After a honeymoon in Honolulu, Hawaii, the couple are making their home in Dothan.
