Bullard - Challancin
The marriage of Natalie Amanda Bullard of Troy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry D. Bullard of Troy, to Mark Challancin of Troy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Challancin of Belle Glade, Fla., took place July 6, 2002, at Park Memorial United Methodist Church in Troy. The Rev. Steve Rascoe officiated.
The bride's maternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. James A. Connor of Goshen. Honorary maternal grandparents of the bride participating in the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur J. King of Goshen. The bride's paternal grandparents are Mrs. Nettie B. Chandler Bullard and the late Jessie Bullard of Troy.
The groom's maternal grandparents are the late Mark and Mildred T. Challancin of Belle Glade and the late Harvey N. and Hortense G. Armstrong of Belle Glade.
The ceremony, directed by Nell St. John, took place in the sanctuary of Park Memorial, which was elegantly decorated by Maxine's Florist and Gifts with ferns and fresh cut flowers in hues of peach, white and yellow. Friend of the bride, Tammy Childs, greeted guests. Before the entrance of the bride, an ensemble from Park Memorial United Methodist Church Choir consisting of Carla Guthrie, Kaye Jinright, Jan Rascoe, Jerry Deloney and Doug McLendon sang a gorgeous arrangement of "Surely the Presence of the Lord is in this Place." As the bride came down the aisle to the traditional "Bridal Chorus from 'Lohengrin,'" she honored the couple who introduced her to her groom by presenting them with a rose from her bouquet. Pianist Jason Grace sand "Come Down Lord" after the bride's father gave her hand in marriage. Following the vows, exchange of rings and prayer, vocalists Jan Rascoe and Doug McLendon sang "Only God Could Love You More" during the lighting of the Unity Candle.
The bride wore a beautiful white satin gown with a portrait neckline and drop waistline. The bodice was heavily accented with an intricate design of pearls, beads and crystals. The design was repeated on the bottom of the fishtail skirt and sweep train. The lovely illusion fingertip veil was attached to a headpiece made of pearls and crystals. She wore white satin slippers adorned with pearl beads.
The bride's bouquet contained two dozen peach roses, sprigs of lily of the valley and the greenery with streaming ribbons of royal blue and silver. Nestled in the center of the bouquet was a gold charm of the Holy Bible given to her by the groom's mother ad attached to the base was a white handkerchief embroidered with blue roses, given to her by her mother in memory of Amanda's maternal grandmother.
The bride's maid of honor was best friend, Miss Joy Johnston of Troy. Bridesmaids were Miss Sara Connor of Troy, cousin of the bride; and Mrs. Ronnie Moseley of Dozier, friend of the bride and groom. The maid of honor and bridesmaids wore full-length sapphire satin gowns with mock trains by After Six with clutch bouquets of peach roses. The mothers of the bride and groom held clutch bouquets of orchids.
The best man was Mr. Jim Daughtry of Troy. Groomsmen were Mr. Jason Dorrill of Brundidge, Mr. Tim Kelly of Repton and Mr. Ronnie Moseley of Dozier,friends of the groom. Ushers were Mr. Bobby Childs and Mr. Brian Dilly, friends of the bride and groom. The groom, best man, groomsmen and ushers all wore traditional black tuxedos with wihte rose boutonnieres.
Immediately following the ceremony, a dinner reception was held at Swindall's RV Park and Campground. The bride and groom received a toast by Jim Daughtry upon their arrival at the reception. The cutting of the cakes made and designed by Cakes by Joyce followed. The groom's cake was two-tier chocolate with chocolate butter cream icing, adorned with a dark chocolate "C" on top and featured a Jeep climbing the top tier. The bride's cake was a three-tier vanilla with white butter cream icing, imprinted with a lily of the valley design and adorned with blue roses, baby's breath and greenery. The bride's cake was topped with her mother's restored cake topper from her parent's wedding in April of 1970. Cake servers were Mrs. Jack Davis, Mrs. Brandon Oakes, both cousins of the bride; Miss Shelly Dorrill and Miss Jenny Davis, friend of the bride. One hundred eighty guests were welcomed to the reception by the bride's father and all enjoyed a meal catered by The Etc. Shoppe, who also beautifully decorated the reception hall with an array of fresh colorful flowers on each guest table, buffet table and the entryway. The couple, family and guests danced to selections chosen by the bride and supervised by friends Randy Ross and Shirley Tew. The happy couple left their reception in a shower of birdseed for their honeymoon to Big Sky, Mt., and Yellowstone national park. The couple will reside on Elm Street Road in Troy.
The bride graduated from Troy State University and teaches science at Carroll High School in Ozark. The groom is also a graduate of troy State University and is the environmental manager for Wayne Farms in South Alabama.
