Violet Louise and Harold Neil (Skip) Goff
Violet Louise and Harold Neil (Skip) Goff will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary Sept. 17, 2007.
They were married in the Braceville Township small-country Methodist church 65 years ago in 1942 during World War II.
Harold was a staff sergeant in the Army Air Force, and his bride was the former Violet Bronson.
The two large home-grown gladiolus arrangements on the alter were furnished by Merle Bailey, a Sunday school teacher at the church.
The couple have five daughters: Linda (Bob) Reader, Karlene Goff, Judy (Roy) Jones, Jerrie (Sam) Lee and Marsha (Art) Phipps. Karlene resides in California, and the other daughters live in Southington and Champion.
The couple have 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Mr. Goff retired from Taylor Winfield in 1983 as a layout inspector and fitter welder.
His military occupation was as an aircraft welder on the Battlegrounds in New Guinea in the Asiatic Pacific Theater.
Mrs. Goff is a homemaker and seamstress.
She enjoyed volunteering in school activities and is still involved in many community projects.
They are both enjoying their retirement with their family and attending their three community card clubs.
A small family celebration was hosted by their daughters Sept. 16.
