RICHMOND - Hugh and Gwen Baxley of Plaquemine, La., have announced the engagement of their daughter, Janina Joyce, to Daniel Lee Rogers, son of Eileen Rogers of Richmond, Ohio, and the late Frank Gordon Rogers.
The bride-to-be is a graduate of Episcopal High School in Baton Rouge, La., Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Va. and Louisiana State University, where she received a master's of art degree in English.
She is a free-lance technical writer and editor.
Her fiance is a graduate of Wintersville High School and Malone College in Canton, Ohio, where he earned a bachelor's of art degree in business administration.
He also is an Eagle Scout and a Navy veteran. He recently published his first book, "America One Step at a Time," which chronicles his 3,400-mile journey across America.
He is a district executive with the Daniel Boone Council of the Boy Scouts of America in Maggie Valley, N.C.
They plan to be married Sept. 27, 2003 at White Oak Plantation in Baton Rouge.
