PARKERSBURG, W.Va. - Susan M. Smith and Joerg Dreweke were united in marriage at 3:30 p.m., Oct. 2, 2004, at the Presbyterian Church in Ostrander, Ohio, with the Rev. Michael Norris officiating.
The bride is the daughter of James C. and Mary Ann Smith of Parkersburg, formerly of Steubenville.
The groom is the son of Dr. Gerd and Ulrike Dreweke of Meckenheim, Germany.
Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore a satin gown with champagne trim and carried a bouquet of assorted colored roses.
Jessica Watts of Washington, D.C., served as maid of honor. Joseph Wheeler of New York, N.Y., was a bridal attendant.
The flower girls were Hailey Davenport of Delaware, Ohio, cousin of the bride and Karoline and Friederike Stroedicke of Germany, cousins of the groom.
Groomsmen were Christian Kahl and Robert Breuer of Germany. The groom's brothers, Jens and Jonas Dreweke of Germany, served as ushers.
A reception was held at the Historic Worthington Inn in Worthington, Ohio.
The bride is employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. She graduated from Steubenville High School in 1994 and earned a bachelor's degree in international relations from the American University's School of International Service in 1998 and a master's degree in Cold War history from the University of Maryland.
The groom is vice president of communications at TransAtlantic Futures Inc. in Washington, D.C., and is the deputy editor of the Globalist, an online magazine. He earned a bachelor's degree in North American studies and political science from the University of Bonn in Germany in 1996 and a master's degree in international economic policy from American University's School of International Service in 1999.
The couple will honeymoon in Austria and reside in Washington.
