The couple celebrated by taking a trip to Las Vegas with their daughter and grandchildren.
A surprise reception was June 11 at Fanchon Ballroom, Hays.
The couple met in Hays.
He retired as a salesman after 33 years with Service Acid.
She continues to work as an associate professor of sociology at Fort Hays State University.
She has been teaching at FHSU since 1969.
The couple has a daughter, Cheryl Johnson, Lone Tree, Colo.
The couple has three grandchildren, Justine Johnson, Boulder, Colo.; and Jason Johnson and Jacqueline Johnson, both of Lone Tree.
Rose Marie Petracek and Jerry Arnhold were married June 10, 1961, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays.
