Keith - 60th
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Walton Keith celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with an open house hosted by their children on Sunday, Dec. 9, at the First Baptist Church in New London.
Marjorie Liter and Carl Walton Keith were united in marriage on Dec. 24, 1941, in Hannibal. The Rev. John Golden officiated.
Attendants were Reuben Houchins and his wife, Laura Griffith Houchins.
Mrs. Keith is the daughter of Winfred B. and Clara Megown Liter.
Mr. Keith is the son of Mahlon B. and Katie Brown Keith.
They are the parents of two children, James W. Keith of Hermann and Gay Donaldson of Mexico.
They have two grandchildren, Vincent Fisher and Marnie Ritter and one great-grandson, Zackary Ritter.
Mr. Keith was in the U.S. Air Force from 1942 to 1945.
After his time in the army, the Keiths made their home in this area, where he farmed and she was a teacher in the New London School District.
In 1955 they moved to Lynwood, Calif., where he worked for the city of Lynwood and she taught school.
They retired and returned to New London in 1978, where they still reside.
