Miss Kathryn E. Whorton weds Jeremy L. Johnson
Miss Kathryn Elizabeth Whorton and Jeremy Lee Johnson were united in marriage on March 20, 1999 at the First United Methodist Church in Pine Mountain. Reverend Steve Moore officiated at the afternoon ceremony. Mr. Mike Morgan of Union City, Georgia provided the nuptial music.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Carolyn Horn, of Shelby Twp., MI and John D. Whorton, Jr. of Pine Mountain. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Abbie Davis Smith of Hamilton and the late L. Ben Smith, Sr. and the late John and Martha Whorton.
The groom is the son of Ken and Jenny Johnson of LaGrange. He is the grandson of Lee Weatherford of LaGrange and the late Bill Weatherford and Andy Johnson of Smith Station, Alabama and the late Eva Johnson.
Miss Shannon Young of Pocono, Pennsylvania served as maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Angela Wills of Carrollton, Georgia and Miss Shannon Reynolds of Columbus. Miss Suzan Flores and Miss Sarah Flores served as flower girls. The attendants wore floor length navy blue satin dresses and carried nosegays of silk daisies.
Mr. Jason Johnson, brother of the groom, of LaGrange, served as best man with David Whorton, brother of the bride and Mike Baker, both of Pine Mountain, serving as groomsmen. Thomas McCaffery and Joshua Weatherford also served as ushers. Shawn Weatherford served as ring bearer.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. The bride wore an elegant sleeveless white bridal satin gown with empire styling and an a-line skirt. The embroidered lace bodice was encrusted with baby pearls and sequins and featured a wide keyhole opening in back, trimmed with pearls. The center of the flowing train, and the dress and train hemlines were also lavishly trimmed with the embroidered lace, seed pearls and sequins. She carried a nosegay of red roses and daisies. A candle of love was lit in memory of the couple’s grandparents. A reception was held in the church’s Family Life Center in honor of the couple’s marriage.
The couple will reside in Pine Mountain after a trip to the North Georgia mountains.
REHEARSAL DINNER
The wedding rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents on March 19, 1999 at the Carriage and Horse Restaurant in Pine Mountain.
