Miss Dana Denise Warren Weds Benjamin Emory Smith
Miss Dana Denise Warren and Benjamin Emory smith were united in marriage on December 19, 1998 at the Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Dalton, Georgia. Dr. Ron Grizzle of Columbus and Reverend Dub Darville of Rome officiated at the afternoon ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Warren of Dalton and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mr. Bill Warren and Mr. and Mrs. Stanton West, all from Dalton. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Louie Benjamin Smith, Jr. of Columbus. The groom’s grandparents are Mrs. Abbie Davis Smith of Hamilton and the late Mr. Ben Smith, Sr. and Mr. Charles Emory Barnhill of Moultrie, Georgia and the late Mrs. Barnhill. Mr. Barnhill escorted Mrs. Cleo Odom of Berlin, Georgia, a friend of the groom’s family.
The nuptial music was presented by Mrs. Diana Baggett, organist, Miss Stacey Litchford, pianist, and Mr. David Smith, vocalist.
Miss Sanna Warren, sister of the bride, served as Maid of Honor. The bridesmaids were: Mrs. Jenny Warnack of Chatsworth; Miss Beth Henderson of Lilburn; Miss Jennifer Whitton of Rome; and the groom’s sister, Miss Abbie Elizabeth Smith of Columbus. Miss Heather cook was the Junior Bridesmaid and Miss Ashlyn Barnes was the Flower Girl. The bridesmaids wore floor length green satin dresses and carried nosegays of silk white magnolia blossoms and wine colored berries.
Mr. Smith served as Best Man for his son. The ushers were Mr. David Lawrence Whorton of Pine Mountain, cousin of the groom, Mr. Stephen Parks Warnock of Thomaston, cousin of the groom, Mr. Bryan Patrick of Fort Worth, Texas, Mr. Ryan Moody of Bremen, Georgia, Mr. Chris Blanton of Social Circle, Georgia and Mr. Derek Fort of Conyers.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. Her candlelight dress featured a beaded bodice accented by her cascading flowers of magnolia blossoms and greenery. There was a unity candle lighting and private communion for the wedding couple. Mr. Derek Fort, friend of the groom, read Joshua 24:15.
The Christmas wedding ended with the presentation to the congregation of the new Mr. And Mrs. Benjamin Emory smith and the recessional music was "Joy to the World." The bride’s parents entertained at a reception in the church social hall. Festive Christmas decorations were used throughout the area.
Mr. Smith and his bride left on a trip to the Callaway Gardens area. They will make their home in Fort Worth, Texas where Mrs. Smith teaches for the Crowley School System and Mr. Smith is a graduate student at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
REHEARSAL DINNER
The wedding rehearsal dinner was hosted on December 18th by the groom’s parents in the banquet area of the Holiday Inn of Dalton. A lovely Christmas tree and round tables with hurricane lamps surrounded by bows and Christmas greenery filled the room. Each bridesmaid and groomsman brought a gift to the wedding couple that signified a special memory they had shared with the bride or groom.
Out of town guests for the dinner, other than the wedding party, included Mrs. Carolyn Horn of Detroit, Michigan, Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Warnock and Mr. Charles Warnock of Thomaston, Miss Stephanie Warnock of Columbus, Mr. Adam Jeremy Bradshaw of Columbus, and Mr. Bucky Burgess of Rocky Face, Georgia.
