Kathryn Margaret Evans, Tianjin, China, daughter of William and Rebecca Evans, 188 Orebed Road, Colton, was married to David Matthew Coons, also of Tianjin, son of Debby Coons, 1319 Hillcrest, Piqua, Ohio, and Gary Coons, East Snodgrass Road, Piqua, on April 21 at College Church, Wheaton, Ill., with the Rev. Wendell Hawley officiating.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a gown of Chinese silk she designed and had made in China.
Kristen Deese, Warrenville, Ill., was her cousin's matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Lisa Evans, Langhorne, Pa., sister-in-law of the bride, Cami Head, Chicago, Ill., Beth Hubbard, Fairfield, Conn., Jenna Walton, Cambridge, Mass., Kimberly Rothwell, Oak Park, Ill., Alison Stedman Coslow, Edgewater, Fla., Shelley Oliver, Grand Rapids, Mich., and Klarissa Oh, Nashville, Tenn.
Junior bridesmaids were Makayla Sharlow, Parishville, and Margo Schmidt, Trumbull, Conn., both cousins of the bride. Alison Taylor, Wheaton, cousin of the bride, was flower girl.
Luke Abernathy, Seattle, Wash., was best man. Groomsmen were Derek Coons, Dublin, Ohio, brother of the bridegroom, Jordan Evans, Langhorne, and David Evans, Colton, both brothers of the bride, Michael Magnussen, New London, Wis., Daniel Martin, Kalamazoo, Mich., Joel Newton, Littleton, Colo., and Tyler Shedd, Louisville, Ky. Mic Garlinger, Reynoldsburg, Ohio, cousin of the bridegroom, was ring bearer.
Music was provided by Rebecca Swan, Charlotte, N.C., Margaret and Josh Feit, Atlanta, Ga., Jeremy, Nancy and Bethany Taylor, Winfield, Ill., Stephen Taylor, Wheaton, Kristen Deese, Warrenville, Margo Schmidt and Makayla Sharlow, all cousins of the bride, Bryan Wood, Natick, Mass., formerly of Colton, and Marianne Schmidt, Trumbull, aunt of the bride.
A reception was held at College Church Commons, Wheaton.
The couple took a one-week trip to Hilton Head, S.C.
Mrs. Coons, a 1997 graduate of Colton-Pierrepont Central School, received a bachelor's degree in 2001 and a master's degree in Christian education and wilderness studies in 2006 from Wheaton (Ill.) College. She teaches a service and society class and plans special-emphasis events at Tianjin International School.
Mr. Coons is a 2002 summa cum laude graduate of Taylor University in Indiana, having spent a semester studying in Jerusalem and traveling. He worked for the English Language Institute, Beijing, China, and taught English to doctorate students at Tianjin International School, where he will teach philosophy and service and society in the fall.
The couple resides in Tianjin.
