Powell - MacCollum
Francine Powell, daughter of James and Kathleen Powell Sr. and Francine and Ira Shotwell III, and Thomas MacCollum Jr., son of Thomas and Catherine MacCollum Sr., were married in Christ United Presbyterian Church, Hanover Township.
The Rev. Robert A. Boyar and the Rev. Joseph Whalen celebrated the double ring ceremony.
Kristin Fergel, sister of the groom, and Jim Powell Jr., brother of the bride, gave readings.
Music and vocal were performed by Laura Lewis, organist and the Christ United Presbyterian Choir. Soloist was Kristina Boyar, the pastor’s daughter. Pamela Graziano, aunt of the bride, and Rosanne Guterman, godmother of the bride, also participated in the ceremony.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The Brass Rail, Ashley. The couple took a honeymoon trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose her aunt, Ellen Aldrich, as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Jeanne Aldrich, Avoca, aunt of the bride; Grace Mitchell, Old Forge, cousin of the bride, and Danielle Esposito, Hazleton. Julia and Lauren Aldrich, cousins of the bride, were the flower girls.
Allen Sandrock, Hazleton, performed the duties of best man, and groomsmen were Tom Kepping, Hazleton; Scott Zoscin, Maryland, and John Shreffler, Philadelphia. Matthew Powell, brother of the bride, and Joshua Batch, cousin of the bride, were junior groomsmen. Kevin Fergel, the groom’s nephew, was honorary ring bearer.
The bride, who earned a bachelor’s degree from Bloomsburg University and a master’s degree from King’s College, is a teacher with the Hazleton Area School District.
The groom earned a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and is a parole agent employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
A shower in honor of the bride was given by the bridal party, both mothers, the bride’s grandmother and the groom’s sister at Victoria Inns and Suites, Pittston Township. The groom’s parents and family hosted the rehearsal dinner at Christ United Presbyterian Church.
