Grovich - Sands
Lyn Grovich, daughter of Richard and Joan Onuschak, Hazleton, and Jerry Sands, Pittston, son of Nathan and Ruth Sands, Harding, were married in a double ring ceremony performed by the Rev. Jerry Safko in Good Shepherd Church, Drums.
Readings were given by Nadine Wezner, Hazleton, cousin of the bride, and Cheryl Marren, West Grove, sister of the groom. Offertory gifts were presented by the mothers of the couple, Ron Chiverella, uncle of the bride, offered a prayer, and Tonya Uliano, cousin of the bride, was guest book attendant. A special prayer was offered during the ceremony for Jeremy and Kaitlyn Sands, son and daughter-in-law of the groom, and the troops in Iraq.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose her cousin, Dina Smithson, Leesburg, Va., as matron of honor. Tasha Uliano and Taryn Smithson, goddaughters of the bride, were the flower girls.
Josh Sands, Lusby, Md., was best man for his father, and ushers were Ron Chiverella Jr., Camp Hill, cousin of the bride, and Nate Sands, Oxford, brother of the groom.
A reception was held at the Stage Coach Inn, Drums. The couple resides in Drums.
The bride, a graduate of Hazleton High School, earned Bachelors’ degrees from Pennsylvania University in behavioral science and from Bloomsburg University in elementary education. She is a teacher in the Hazleton Area School District and is pursuing a Master’s degree in classroom technology at Wilkes University.
A graduate of Sun Valley High School, Aston, the groom earned an Associate degree from Penco Automotive Technology Institute in Philadelphia and is the owner of Sands Alignment Center in Harding. He is also a certified ski instructor.
The bride was honored at showers given by her mother, the matron of honor and her godmother, Pat Collevechio, at Emily’s in Lattimer, and by Marie Gavlick at the Ground Round in Hazleton.
