Piacente - Welch
Laura Marie Piacente, daughter of Dorothy Piacente and Lawrence Piacente, both of Hazleton, and Brian Leonard Welch, grandson of John Corbin, McAdoo, were married in St. Joseph’s R.C. Church.
The Rev. Joseph Evancho performed the double ring ceremony.
Edward Makuta was the organist, and the Rev. Mr. Leonard G. Kassick, the soloist.
Gifts were presented by Anna Pastorella, aunt of the bride; Sylvia Peterson, aunt and godmother of the bride, and Jacqueline Sharpe.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose Renee Tate, Hazleton, as matron of honor, and Lesley Piacente, as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Susan Smith and Tracey Mussoline. Chelsea Marie Welch, daughter of the couple, was the flower girl.
Jason Sharrer, Hazleton, was the best man, and ushers were Dean Tate, Tom Wagner, Travis Negri and Nicholas Tate.
Following a reception at Edgewood in the Pines, Drums, the couple left on a honeymoon trip to Las Vegas, Nev. They now reside at 337 E. Muir Ave., Hazleton.
A 1988 graduate of Bishop Hafey High School, the bride graduated from the Licensed Practical Nursing Program at the Hazleton Career Center in 1997 and is attending Luzerne County Community College.
The groom is a 1994 graduate of Hazleton Area High School and King’s Gap Environmental Education Training Center, Carlisle.
A shower in honor of the bride was given by family members and the bridesmaids at the Monfort in Sheppton, and the rehearsal dinner was held at the home of the bride’s mother in Hazleton.
