Juxa Plantation is wedding scene Nicole Renee Heard became the bride of Jason Ward King during a double-ring candlelight ceremony on November 29, 2002, at the Juxa Plantation. Reverend Ray Harold Belue officiated the seven o'clock service.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Curtis of Vista, California and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Heard of Sunsite Pearce, Arizona. The groom is the son of Ms. Dale Ward Bishop of Union. Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a white gown featuring an off-the-shoulder, long sleeve bodice covered in tulle and hand embroidered appliqués embellished with beads.
The floor length tulle skirt, also embellished with appliqués, was accented by a chapel length train made of tulle and beaded appliqués. The fingertip veil was edged in lace and attached to a beaded tiara. The bride's bouquet was stems of calla lilies accented by a spray of gardenias, all tied with a satin ribbon.
Mrs. Cybele Culberson, sister of the bride of Bakersfield, California, served as matron of honor. She wore a white long sleeve bodice with gathered detail along the front. The full A-line navy skirt was floor length with a slight train. She carried a calla lily bouquet tied with navy and white satin ribbon.
Bridesmaids included Ms. Denise Patrask of Rochelle Park, New Jersey and Mrs. Susan Nichols, cousin of the groom of Rock Hill. They wore dresses and carried bouquets identical in style to that of the matron of honor. Miss Gabriella Bowers of Spartanburg served as flower girl. She wore a white linen dress with lace collar and princess slippers.
Master Allen Medlock, cousin of the groom of Union, served as ring bearer. The groom chose Mr. Garrett Shulze of San Diego, California to serve as best man. Groomsmen included Mr. Gerald Gregory, cousin of the groom of Columbia and Mr. Lynn Fore of Pacolet. During the ceremony, the bride and groom honored the mothers and the groom's grandmother, Mrs. Meta Ward, each with a single red rose.
Miss Sarah Medlock and Miss Lauren Medlock, both cousins of the groom of Union, attended the register. The reception was also held at Juxa Plantation following the ceremony. Following a honeymoon trip to Jamaica, the couple will reside in Palm Springs, California.
The bride is employed by Sun Line Transit of Palm Springs. She is the granddaughter of the late Evelyn Heard and Clyde Heard of Roma, California. The groom is employed with North American Energy Service of Palm Springs. He is the grandson of Mrs. Meta Ward of Union and the late Ed Ward. A rehearsal reception was hosted by Dale Bishop, mother of the groom, on November 28 at Juxa Plantation with a Thanksgiving theme.
