Miss Jennifer Leigh Wilkins became the bride of Mr. Brandon Keith Rogers during a double-ring ceremony on August 10, 2002, at Putman Baptist Church, Buffalo.
Reverend Jerry Lawson officiated the four o'clock candlelight service with the Reverend Johnny Burgess offering scripture and prayer.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Dale Turner of Buffalo and Mr. Jack Wayne Wilkins of Forest City, North Carolina.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Michael Millwood of Union.
Presenting the musical program were organist, Mrs. Zora O'Dell of Buffalo; and vocalists, Mr. Scott Weathers of Spartanburg, and Mrs. Warnette Smith and Mr. Craig Price both of Buffalo. Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, Mr. Jack Wayne Wilkins, the bride wore a sweetheart gown.
Embellishing the gown was pearled lace appliqués on the bodice and the gown was enhanced by a row of pearled buttons down the back.
Her full skirt and chapel-length train were accented with bows on the back. The scalloped hemline of the skirt and train were also adorned with the pearled lace appliqués.
Her fingertip veil of tulle was edged with pearls and attached to a headband adorned with pearls.
She carried an arm bouquet of fresh red and white roses, accented with baby's breath, greenery, ribbons and pearls.
Miss Jamie Lynn Duncan of Union, served as maid of honor.
Mrs. Shanna Rogers Williams, sister of the groom of Union, served as matron of honor.
They wore pink, empire, princess-styled gowns with a bow attached to the back.
The bodice and sleeves were accented with an overlay of lace.
The gowns were designed and hand-sewn by Mrs. Mary Hixson of Union.
Baby's breath accented their hair. Both carried hand-held bouquets made of silk red roses, accented with baby's breath, lace, ribbons and pearls. They were designed and created by Mrs. Melinda Haney of Union.
Bridesmaids included Miss Beverly Jane Wilkins and Mrs. Tracy Turner Bevis, both sisters of the bride of Buffalo, Miss Kelly Denise Millwood, sister of the groom of Union, Mrs. Lona Dantzler Young of Buffalo, and Mrs. Shannon Moore Wells of Union. They wore teal gowns which were made identical to that of the honor attendants. Their hair was also accented with baby's breath.
Each carried bouquets identical to the honor attendants. Miss Rebekah Hope Rogers, daughter of the bride and groom of Union, served as flower girl. Master Nicholas Tylor Williams, nephew of the groom of Union, served as ring bearer.
The groom chose Mr. William Kevin Shetley of Union and Mr. Donald Gregory Boulware, cousin of the bride of Buffalo, to serve as best men.
Groomsmen included Mr. Roger Scott Turner, brother of the bride of Blacksburg, Mr. Nicholas Courtney Williams, brother-in-law of the groom of Union, Mr. Michael Lee Boulware, cousin of the bride of Buffalo, Mr. Scott Ashley Johnson and Mr. Jon-Michael Burbage both of Union.
Mrs. Tonya Turner and Miss Katlyn Turner of Blacksburg attended the bridal register.
Wedding coordinator was Mrs. Mary Hixson of Union; photographer was Mr. Tommy Caldwell of Buffalo; and videographer was Mr. Brooks Lee of Union.
Following the wedding ceremony, a reception was held in the gymnasium of Putman Baptist Church, hosted by the bride's parents. After a honeymoon trip to Daytona Beach, Florida, the couple will reside in Union.
The bride is a 2000 graduate of Cornerstone Christian School.
She is a granddaughter of Mrs. Betty Wilburn Mahaffey of Union and the late Henry Bennett Mahaffey, Sr., Mrs. Martha Rochester Sherfield of Buffalo, the late Jack Gibbs and Juanita Baldwin Wilkins of Gaffney and Mr. and Mrs. David Wayne Turner of Buffalo.
The groom is a 1999 graduate of Union High School and is employed as a manager with McDonalds of Union.
He is a grandson of the late Doc and Elizabeth Bradshaw Brock, the late Clifton and Eleanor Barnett Rogers and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lewis Millwood of Union.
