Holt, Duncan exchange vows
Ms. Mica Henderson Holt became the bride of Mr. Raymond Edward (Tripp) Duncan, III during a double-ring ceremony on August 3, 2002, at Bogansville United Methodist Church. Reverend Gary Peterson officiated the seven o'clock service.
The bride is the daughter of Wayne and June Henderson of West Springs.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James King of Easley and Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Duncan of Union.
Presenting the musical program were organist, Mr. Rodney Bogan, uncle of the bride of Spartanburg; and vocalists, Mr. Rodney Bogan and Mr. Scott Weathers both of Spartanburg.
The bride was escorted by her son, Master Jacob Holt of West Springs and her father and given in marriage by her parents and her son. She wore a white strapless A-line gown with a beaded bodice and a side split overlay skirt. The cathedral-length train had delicate embroidery embellished with beading and scalloped edge. For her headpiece, she chose a pearl crown that she borrowed from the groom's mother. It had a two tier waterfall elbow-length veil. She carried two dozen white roses accented with baby's breath and greenery.
Miss Misty Henderson, sister of the bride of West Springs, served as maid of honor. Mrs. Mindy Tyler, sister of the bride of Union, served as matron of honor. They wore floor length gowns that were sand in color. The gown featured a sheer overlay, narrow shoulder straps and a long matching scarf. Each carried a hand-tied bouquet of long stem alstromeria with sheer ribbon.
Bridesmaids included Miss Brandy Duncan, sister of the groom of Rock Hill and Miss Kelly Allison, step-sister of the groom of Union. They wore dresses and carried bouquets identical in style to that of the honor attendants. Miss Camryn Tyler, niece of the bride of Union, served as minature bride. She wore a gown similar to the bride and carried a small version of the bride's bouquet.
The groom chose his father, Mr. Eddie Duncan, to serve as best man. Groomsmen included Mr. Michael Tyler, brother-in-law of the bride of Union, Mr. Randall Wright, cousin of the groom of Jonesville, Mr. Clay Lawson of Spartanburg, and Mr. Brad Foster of Union. During the ceremony, the groom also gave vows to Master Jacob Holt, son of the bride. Jacob was given a signet bracelet when the bride and groom exchanged rings.
Mrs. Becky Beheler of Jonesville served as interpreter for the ceremony. Mrs. Emily McAbee, cousin of the groom of West Springs, attended the bridal register. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Bogansville United Methodist Church hosted by the bride's parents. After a honeymoon trip to Cancun, Mexico, given by Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Duncan and Mr. and Mrs. James King, the couple will reside in the West Springs Community.
The bride received a BS degree in business management from Limestone College. Currently, she is employed with Michelin in the planning and results department. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Mildred Bogan of West Springs and the late Furman P. (Jr.) Bogan and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Henderson of West Springs.
The groom is graduating from Clemson in December with a BS degree in construction science management. Currently, he is employed with Solesbee Construction. He is a grandson of Rev. and Mrs. Alvin Biggerstaff, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Duncan, Sr. all of Union.
Parties and showers:
On July 19, the groom was honored by friends and the groomsmen with a trip to Atlanta, Ga. The bride was honored by friends with a trip to Charlotte, N.C.
On July 21, a miscellaneous drop-in shower was held at the home of Mrs. Ruth Estes, great-aunt of the groom.
On July 24, co-workers of the bride hosted a surprise shower at Tony Romas in Greenville.
Brenda S. Lawson was hostess of a bridal luncheon on July 27. The luncheon was held at the home of Mrs. Lawson in honor of the bride and her attendants.
Friends of the couple met at J.Jrs. in Spartanburg for a dinner in honor of the bride and groom, hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Michael Tyler, sister and brother-in-law of the bride, on July 27.
The rehearsal party and dinner were hosted by the parents of the groom, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Duncan and Mr. and Mrs. James King. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Edward Duncan, III
