This September 2004, 60 years later, Lois is now a retired elementary school secretary and Chet is a retired instructor from Chabot Community College.
The couple lived in Castro Valley about 30 years before moving to Pioneer in 1980.
The couple's daughters are Kathy Peck of Castro Valley, Wanda and her husband, Darrel Rice of Pioneer and Karen and her husband, Jeff Sumner of Placerville.
Grandchildren are Jesse Ryan and Aimeé Peck, Janine Freeman, Michelle Siqurdsson, Dayna Loder, Erin Kakhadze, Isaac Sumner and Emily Hrimnak and the great-grandchildren are Sierra and Jared Freeman.
Karen Sumner said, "The family has always been close with lots of love. Family camping together has become a tradition. The appreciation for the great outdoors is a treasure that's been passed on through the generations and all the grandkids have grown up with it. Loving God has made our family successful and blessed. We're so thankful!"
