Vicinis celebrate 50 golden years

It was Wednesday, Aug. 18 in 1954, when Bertha Taylor of Jackson and Donald Vicini of Ione were married in Carson City, Nev.
Both have been lifelong residents of Amador County.
Bertha was born in Jackson, graduated from Jackson Union High School in 1944 and Don, born in Ione, graduated from Sutter Creek Union High School in 1936.
Don is a veteran of World War II and later on owned and operated the Shell Gas Station then Vicini Tire in Jackson.
Bertha was a homemaker and raised four children: Bonnie Reynolds of Sonoma; Arthur Vicini of Stockton Julie Evans of Pine Grove and John Vicini of Pioneer.
This August, their children hosted a golden anniversary celebration for the couple, attended by 120 family members and friends at Castle Oaks Country Club in Ione.
The Vicini's have 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren with another one due in about two weeks.
