Eugene and Frances Mummy
Eugene and Frances Mummy of Pine Grove celebrated their golden anniversary at Teresa's Place with their children and spouses on Sept. 13, 2003.
Francis Ambriola and Edward 'Gene' Mummy exchanged their vows on Sept. 12, 1953 at St. Francis of Rome Catholic Church in Elsinore and began married life at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska.
After Gene's military duty, they returned to Southern California where Gene began working for Pacific Telephone.
They transferred to the Pine Grove area in 1976 were he completed 35 years with the company.
Frances worked in the office of Dr. Henry Fuller for 10 years.
Over the years, the couple, with their children logged 2,000 baseball games, 500 football games, 100 track meets and way too many piano recitals and concerts.
Now they are trying to break these records with their grandchildren.
The Mummy children hosting the anniversary dinner were, Greg and Pam Mummy of Edmonds, Wash., Mark Mummy and Bev Geary of Issaquah, Wash., Marie and Vaughn Bedard of Fiddletown, Chris and Tami Mummy of Pollock Pines, Kathleen Mummy of Placerville, Patrick and Lauren Mummy of San Diego; their 12 grandchildren and close family and friends.
Also in attendance was a couple who were in the original wedding party in 1953.
Two special gifts presented to the couple were a money tree and a memory book filled with photos, poems and items contributed by family and friends.
The Mummys celebrated this summer by taking a ferry to Haines, Alaska and traveling through their old stomping grounds.
