Amada Elizabeth Sarmiento of Murphys and John Bradbury Allen III of Sutter Creek were married on July 1, 2003 near Lower Yosemite Falls in the Yosemite Valley.
The daughter of Carlos and Maria Sarmiento of Murphys, she is a graduate of Bret Harte High School and has just completed her junior year at University of California at Davis (UCD), majoring in American Studies.
After finishing college, she will attend law school.
She has worked as a legal secretary for the last two and a half years while attending college.
He is the son of John and Corinne Allen of Sutter Creek.
He graduated from Amador High School and California State University, Sacramento with a bachelor of science degree in fire service management.
Currently he is a Second Lieutenant in the Army National Guard, has been an employee of American Legion Ambulance for nearly three years and a volunteer fireman for the city of Sutter Creek for over five years.
The couple will be spending the next year in Fort Rucker, Ala., while John attends Helicopter Flight School. On their return, the couple will continue to make their home in Sutter Creek.
