Benn - Greenhalgh
PORTSMOUTH - Richard F. and Joan-Marie (Greenhalgh) Benn of Portsmouth, formerly of Outer Banks, N.C., recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
They were married Aug. 31, 1952 in Fishkill, N.Y.
A celebration was given by their four children at their daughter Suzanne and her husband Barry Foley’s home in Portsmouth. Family members hosting the party included their daughter Cindy Morrissette, son Richard and his wife, Victoria, and their children Adam, Matthew and Eric Benn of Dover Point, son Randy Benn of Lee and daughter Suzanne and her husband Barry and their children Eileen and Brynn Foley of Portsmouth.
Mr. Benn was born and raised in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
He attended Kings Point Maritime Academy in New York.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and worked for Texaco Research Labs and IBM, later moving to New Hampshire and opening Benn’s Marina on Dover Point.
Mrs. Benn was born and raised in Plainfield, N.J.
She is a graduate of Vassar Hospital School of Nursing in New York.
She worked for years as an RN, before retiring to join her husband in their family marine business.
