Richard and Susan Lane of New London have announced the engagement of their daughter, Courtney M. Lane, to Shad E. Sharkey.
He is the son of Mervin Sharkey and Deanna Sharkey, both of rural Hannibal.

The prospective bridegroom is a 2001 graduate of Haven of Rest and is currently self-employed.
The wedding is planned for 6 p.m. Oct. 23, 2004 at First Christian Church in Hannibal.
