Rex and Sharon Scranton Anniversary
Rex and Sharon Scranton, 202 W. 19th Ave., Coal Valley, will be honored Aug. 14, 2004 at a dinner reception in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.
The reception will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., after the 4 p.m. Mass at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 220 East 22nd Ave., Coal Valley, which the family will be attending.
Relatives and friends are invited. It is requested that gifts be omitted.
The former Sharon Valley, Rock Island, and Mr. Scranton, Moline, were married Aug. 14, 1954, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island.
Their children and spouses are Steve Scranton, Taylor Ridge; Debbie Scranton, Coronado, Calif.; Sue and Joe Hart, Rock Island; Sally and Paul Smith, Paragould, Ark.; Amy and Keith Kappeler, Stockton, Iowa; and Beth and Scott Hoffman, Orion.
They have 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Scranton was employed at the John Deere Foundry, where he was a layout inspector, retiring July 31, 1989, after 34 years with John Deere and five years foundry time.
Mrs. Scranton retired in 1994 after 23 years at the Washington Junior High School Cafeteria, where she was manager.
They are members of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church.
