Hugh and Margery Johnson Anniversary
Hugh and Margery ``Midge'' Johnson, 3001 31st St., Unit B, Rock Island, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends on Aug. 1, 2004 at the Arsenal Golf Club.
The former Margery Bruning, Glen Ellyn, and Mr. Johnson, Rockford, were married July 31, 1954, in Grace Lutheran Church, Glen Ellyn.
Their children and spouses are Debbie and Wayne Benson, Birmingham, Ala.; and Mike and Pam Johnson, Lakeville, Minn.
They have five grandchildren.
Mr. Johnson was employed for 36 years by the Rock Island School District, as a coach and teacher.
He was head football coach from 1976 to 1981, retiring 1993.
Mrs. Johnson was employed for 22 years as a special education teacher for the Rock Island School District, retiring in 1992.
The couple belong to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport.
