John and Mary Stewart Anniversary
John and Mary Stewart, 1501 Butternut St., Keithsburg, will be honored Saturday at a party in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Relatives and friends are invited beginning at 7 p.m. at the Keithsburg Volunteer Fire Department. Food, refreshments and music will be provided.
It is requested that gifts be omitted.
The former Mary Balzer, Viola, and Mr. Stewert, Keithsburg, were married May 29, 1954, in the Presbyterian Church, Viola.
They are the parents of Vanessa Stewart, Valerie Sanford and Veronica Penrod, all of Burlington, Iowa, and John William ``Jake'' Stewart Jr. of Oquawka, Ill.
There are nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Stewart retired in 1997 from the Mercer County Sheriff's Department, where he was deputy sheriff.
He was employed for 29 years in police work and still works part time.
He also served in the Air Force for 10 years.
Mrs. Stewart was employed for eight years as a CNA with Mercer County Nursing Home, retiring in 1995.
