Martha and Leon Vandygriff Anniversary
Martha and Leon Vandygriff, 1445 98th Ave. Ct. W., Rock Island, will be honored Nov. 28, 2003 at a family dinner in observance of their 50th wedding anniversary.
The dinner will be held at Le Figero, district of Rock Island, and their original wedding caketop will adorn the anniversary cake.
The former Martha Singer and Mr. Vandygriff, both of South Bend, Ind., were married Nov. 28, 1953, in Christ the King Catholic Church, South Bend.
Their children and spouses are Greg, Boston, Mass., Jeff and Kym, Rock Island, Susan, Fern Park, Fla., and Sandra and Greg Gaither, Wasilla, Alaska.
They have four grandchildren: Patrick, J.J., and Tara Vandygriff, all of Rock Island, and Briar Gaither, Alaska.
Mr. Vandygriff served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War.
He was employed by Allied Signal, Southbend, as an electronic technician, retiring in 1995 after 16 years.
Prior to that, he worked at Studebaker and Freeman-Spicer, both in South Bend.
Mrs. Vandygriff was employed by St. Joseph High School, South Bend, as the cafeteria supervisor, retiring in 1995 after 23 years.
The couple belongs to the Rock Island Moose, VFW, Rock Island.
They hold membership at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan.
