CROFT - SQUIRES
Barbara and Art Squires
50th Wedding Anniversary
[Announcement dated October 12, 2004]
Barbara and Art, as their many friends, business associates/staff, & patrons know them by, just returned from their Silver Sea's 2 week cruise celebrating their 50th year of extraordinary togetherness, accompanied by their childhood friends of 60 years, Bill & Sybil Cigal of Greenwich, Conn.
They thank all their treasured family and many friends worldwide who have been a part of this remarkable journey together. As an Aviation Cadet in the USAF stationed at Ellington Field, Art, won over and married Barbara Croft of Houston. Art as the youngest officer in the Strategic Air Command (SAC), safely completed 18 tours of duty overseas, as they persevered together.
In 1959 they had an opportunity to produce theatrical events as Southwest Concerts Inc. A Jones Hall opening of "Maurice Chevalier" & then the National Touring Company of "My Fair Lady" at the Music Hall all bannered by Neiman Marcus & Foley's, were innovative firsts. Playing to over 3 million people throughout the Southwest, what fun it was to produce over 2000 performances together!
In the 90s their tangent company Southwest Carriage Livery Service, won the Operator of The Year National Award. Barbara also reigned as the national Advil Fitness Challenge champion making the cover page of Health & Fitness Magazine in 1997. Both were just appointed to the Chancellors Committee at the University of Texas in Austin where at The American History Museum their theatrical memorabilia is archived.
They are blessed with their son Mitchell & his wife Marla & their daughter Heather & her husband Scott & their respective families, Casie, Kirby, Austin, Avery, & little Ashley.
To all who have shared an exciting evening at one of their events or had a pleasant livery ride during this past half a century of LOVE & PASSION FOR LIVING, they need for you to know, WE LOVE YOU! MAY YOU & YOURS BE SAFE & SOUND And GOD BLESS this WONDERFUL COUNTRY WE LIVE IN!
