Miss Emily Ann Ownby and Mr. Brooks Frederick Elliott were united in marriage on Saturday, October 2, 2004 at half past six in the evening at Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church in Houston, Texas. The Reverend Ronald D. Pogue officiated the double ring ceremony with assistance from The Reverend John M. Wheeler. Director of Music and organist Dr. Ann Frohbieter provided ceremonial music. Mrs. Bethany Ann Edwards, cousin of the groom, gave the scripture reading. A reception followed at the Cohen House at Rice University with music provided by Grady Gaines and the Texas Upsetters. A bridesmaid's brunch was held at the home of Mrs. Wendy Hall Saghiyyah on Friday, October 1, hosted with her mother, Mrs. Deborah Hall Davis. On the eve of the wedding the groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner at Damian's Cucina Italiana.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Gil Ownby of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. James A. Tinsley and the late Mr. And Mrs. Warren G. Ownby of Houston, Texas.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Raines Elliott, Jr. of Hunt, Texas. He is the grandson of Mr. Norman P. Krudop of Kerrville, Texas and the late Mrs. Margaret S. Krudop. His fraternal grandparents are Mrs. Katherine C. Elliot of Phoenix, Arizona and the late Mr. John R. Elliott, Sr.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless gown of ivory duchess satin accented by a champagne silk taffeta sash with a full skirt that extended into a chapel length train. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of Vendela roses and stephanotis. Flowers at the church were dedicated to the memory of deceased grandparents and Mrs. Lucy Kennard Trotter, heroine of the bride.
Mrs. Allison Rinden Ownby of Houston, Texas assisted her sister-in-law as Matron of Honor. The bridesmaids were Miss Rebecca Ann Emrick and Mrs. Amanda Adams Sterett of Dallas, Texas, Miss Lisa Nicole Pounds of New York City, and Mrs. Katherine Heyne Tramonte of Houston, Texas. Miss Isabella Marie Tramonte of Houston, Texas and Miss Sarah Alexandra Trotter of Santa Fe, New Mexico served as flower girls. The house party included cousins of the bride, Miss Angela Kay Daniel of Houston, Texas, Miss Bethany Laren Tinsley of Portland, Maine and Miss Claire Rebecca Tinsley of Washington, D.C.
Mr. Joshua Emil Oren of Houston, Texas served as Best Man. Groomsmen were Mr. John Christopher Elliott of Houston, Texas and Mr. Travis James Elliott of San Marcos, Texas, brothers of the groom, Mr. Gregory Gleason Brostrom of New York City and Mr. Kevin Charles Roe of Houston, Texas. Serving as ushers were Mr. Daniel Gil Ownby of Houston, Texas, brother of the bride, Mr. James Christian Tinsley of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Mr. William Joseph Daniel of Houston, Texas, cousins of the bride, and Mr. Benjamin Cole Hartman of Houston, Texas. Mr. Jacob Mann Johnson of Houston, Texas served as the ring bearer.
The bride is a graduate of Mirabeau B. Lamar School in Houston, Texas. She attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Merchandising and was a member of Pi Beta Phi. She is currently Sales Manager for Hunter Gruene Gifts and Awards.
The groom is a graduate of Stratford High School in Houston, Texas. He attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and was a member of Phi Delta Theta. He is currently a Sales Representative for AFTCO Enterprises.
After their honeymoon to the Florida Keys, the couple will reside in Houston, Texas.
